An uprising snap-shot. A virtual call to action. An homage to anyone who fights and stands for a right cause. In “Omaggio a Pellizza da Volpedo” Gec sealed young inhabitants from Val di Susa on paper, tracing down the picture of a collective resistance’s last example.
The project was born as a spontaneous action and an open invitation on Facebook to send some peculiar details of themselves silhouettes in anonymous form to the artist’s profile. After they’ve been collected, all this features became the distinctive traits of the new “Quarto Stato” protagonists.
Once the poster has been realized and affixed in Chiomonte, it’s been published on Facebook, where it found the enthusiastic comments of the participants, that soon recognized and located themselves into the artwork.
It’s not the first time that Gec engages the public in the realization of his posters, turning his supporters in active interlocutors inside the creative process, asking them to send him objects, texts and other materials, stimulating their feedback and reactions.
Gec stimulates the participation of people in almost all his projects that deal with community subject matters like ecology, environment and job.
“Omaggio a Pellizza da Volpedo” is the result of a collective method, from web to walls in a round-trip ticket.
